I first stumbled on Karina Bania‘s work hanging in a coffee shop in San Diego, Ca. I found the balance she carried in her complex stokes and soft expression immediately compelling. There’s such an emotional presence in her paintings that I think words truly can’t do them justice. Stepping into Karina’s studio and home life to photograph this set was an absolute honor. It was all too easy to capture her pace of life and the rhythm she works to. Intentionality, balance, and vulnerability are qualities that Karina makes tangible in both her lifestyle and in her paintings. She is a true inspiration to me and her work speaks for itself. I visited her studio just before these pieces were being sent off to a gallery in New York, USA. I’m so looking forward to following her creative endeavors in the years to come.
